Day one in San Francisco - our flight took off at 10 a.m. but was a bit delayed (and very full!). After a week of crazy busy times, we were exhausted so we both slept nearly the whole flight. When I woke up I wondered how long I'd been asleep and heard the pilot saying we were beginning our descent into San Francisco! We took a taxi from the airport (much nicer than taking the BART like we did last time) and checked into our room at the Marriot Grand Marquis. Our room is nice and has a GREAT view of the southeast part of the city. The weather is sunny and mid-60's. Jeff wanted to see Chinatown since last time we were here, he didn't get to see much of the city at all, so we headed on foot to explore Grant street. I love Chinatown and could shop there for hours, but Jeff isn't as into all the junky funky stores like I am, so he was happy to say he'd seen it and be done! We bought a wok (something he's been wanting forever) and some wine bags. After a couple of hours we headed back to the hotel for a volunteer dinner. It was held in one of the board rooms at the hotel and was nothing fancy - just dinner (decent food), and conversation with a bunch of old chemists! LOL! I sat next to my friend Mary Moore from Tennessee. I met her last time we were in SF last year and she was fun. She invited Jeff and I to come and visit Tennessee and she'd take us to Gatlinburg, Chattanooga, etc. Sounded good to me!
