Divorces happened again the past few years subtracting and adding to our family. We have always done the every other year thing. We were all together (for the most part) for Thanksgiving this year and then with in-laws for Christmas. It will switch next year to all being together for Christmas. We do not have Dave's parents any longer and all of his fam live in Mass/Connecticut. Expensive to make the trip even every other yr. My mom and dad will fortunately spend Christmas with us this year. It's just nice to have the sisters/brothers/aunts, etc around. This week I was reminded of how it could be. A little girl "age 7" who will unfortunately have her 8th birthday and Christmas at Seattle Children's. I spent a lot of time with this little family going through the process of getting scans, getting biopsy, getting a central line placed, bone marrow drawn, getting diagnosed with bone cancer, lung cancer. She is separated from her brother and sisters who live 3 hours away. I know this road only too well as I have traveled it twice, but still I want all the presents, family, church activities and food to go off without a hitch. We feel like our kids and husbands are depending on us for their special Christmas time. I have no doubt that you and I and most other people who feel like something (family) is missing will undoubtedly walk away from the holiday blessed by our loved ones. I read your blog posts and Facebook posts and get a chuckle almost every time. Know that you're a blessing to your family of 5 and despite the hard times you're together. You are also a blessing to those around you that you may not realize are listening and watching. Thank you for the laughter that I have had from reading and may this upcoming year be a more peaceful one! May you and I and others feel content with what is. Give yourself a pat on the back for going "what I consider" above and beyond for your family. Hope to see you around! Have a great Christmas break!<br />Linda ParisiAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
