Harrison called me after school and asked for permission to do his homework here - on the shelf/space of the stairs. I'm not even sure what you would call this space. I used to decorate it by season, but it started looking like a display in a Hallmark store, so I finally put up a "permanent" display - plants in pots (started with live ones, didn't do so well, switched to fake ones!) and a few decorative items. Last night I emptied the space to clean it (eww......the dust!) and left it bare so (wishful thinking) my husband could put a fresh coat of paint on it before moving everything back. Hence, the empty space that was later occupied by Harrison and Arlie, a small lamp, and their homework! Funny kids!
