My Hannah

Today's Instagram picture post is all about my Hannah! She is such a beauty, and an old soul, and so talented and funny. She doesn't subscribe to all the drama, she's chill, and she's a really, really good kid. She recently played "mom" for me on a couple of trips out of town, and did a fabulous job, although I don't think she's ready to parent teens yet (haha!). She's sweet and kind and a friend to everyone. I love to hear her sing and play the piano. I love to hang out with her. I love her unique spirit. She's pretty awesome!

This picture was taken a couple of years ago - clearly in the car. We were probably on a road trip somewhere. I love taking road trips with Hannah.

This picture was taken at the BlogHer convention that Hannah and I attended this summer. What a fun time, going on a trip with just the two of us, Plus, I love this picture!

Hannah and her Papa (my dad) at Harrison's musical "Legally Blonde." Hannah is so devoted to her family!

Took this pic a few summers ago in the park. So dramatic! :)

Took this picture several years ago at Hannah's friend Elliott's going-away party (he was going to the Navy). I just LOVE Hannah's eyes in this one. So beautiful.

Couple of years ago - we were out on a Hannah/mommy/Arlie date and got Starbucks.

You can see me taking this one with my cell phone. It was Hannah's idea - so clever!

Snapped this one recently. Can't remember where - inside a restaurant? I loved the sunlight on her face.

My little girl! She's always had the most gorgeous hair!

Took this one less than a week ago at Olive Garden. Someone said we look alike in this one. :)

More friends!
The 9th graders go on a cruise around Lake Washington to celebrate their "graduation". Everyone gets dressed up and they enjoy a three hour lake cruise with catered food and drinks, dancing, and fun with their friends. Hannah picked the most beautiful dress that was just perfect on her, Hayley did her makeup, I did her hair and she looked stunning! She's such a beautiful girl and I can't believe she's off to high school.
Where are you going, my little one, little one..
Where are you going, my baby, my own?
Turn around and you're two, turn around and you're four
Turn around and you're a young girl going out of the door.....
HAPPY 9TH GRADE GRADUATION, HANNAH!

Relay for Life

Hannah and Tiffany

Hannah is tired!

Arlie just ran a few laps!

Jeff saying "hi"

Hannah, Arlie, Rylie and Hayley ready to relay!

Hayley and Hannah are participating in Relay for Life this weekend. Emphasis on the "lay" since it appears by these pictures that they are spending most of their time laying down! But they are actually walking, with a team, around a track for almost 24 hours (someone from the team is on the track continuously for the entire time). It's a big party, with live bands, food being sold, fundraisers, a luminaria ceremony, and a big sleepover in tents. Mostly I've only heard complaining about teenage girl drama and I ask myself, WHY do they do this? Oh yeah, to raise money for the American Cancer Society. But the money is already raised by Relay time, so the walk is just the icing on the cake - the celebration. And year after year, it's all about friend drama, someone's feet or knees hurting and them being cold at night. Sigh! I'm just glad I didn't volunteer to chaperone!

Anxious morning.....

Poor Hannah. This morning she was so nervous, she decided to go to school and skip the choir field trip because she's worried there's something wrong with her heart. She's been having dizzy/fainting spells and her hands and feet have been turning blueish/grayish at times. We've been to three doctors (her regular doc, her arthritis doc, and her adolescent medicine doc) and they are all mystified. So, we're heading to the pediatric cardiologist to see if it's a heart issue. My guess is it's not, but better safe than sorry. However, with all the weird palpitations she's been getting, she's having more and more anxiety and was fearful today that she might faint during the choir field trip, or worse, on stage tonight during the concert. So, it appears she's not going to either. Which is both a disappointment and a worry that it will affect her grade. And who knows how long it will take to get into the cardio? I'm hoping it's sooner rather than later so she can put her fears to rest.

The good news is she did go to school. And Hayley has a test schedule at school which means she doesn't have to be there until 9:30. So, we're headed to Starbucks for a little mommy/daughter date before school and then I'll drop her off. After that I'm headed to Wal-Mart for a mini shopping spree (hopefully) for my San Francisco trip - new jeans, maybe a few tops, and a bag/purse big enough to carry my camera and all the other essentials I'll need while walking and exploring the city. We leave this weekend and I'm so excited! A little nervous about leaving the kids, but excited too.

Oh, and I have to rant about one thing. My ex-husband is a jerk! Not that anyone who reads this doesn't know that already, but last night he was too lazy to pick up Harrison for their Monday night "24" date (they watch the show together on Mondays, due to my total generosity in allowing him an extra day with the boy). So, he expected me to do it. I had about a million things to do, plus needed to help Arlie with a paper for school so I said no, he had to come get him (I mean, seriously? What ELSE is he doing?). So, he did, and was a total ass when he got here. I mentioned Hannah's concert tonight and he did his typical, toddler-like behavior of playing the "I can't hear you" game. Then, when I mentioned I needed his help (because Jeff has a Toastmaster's contest tonight and I'm only one person needing to take two kids to gymnastics, trampoline class, and the concert), he said "nope, I'm working" (this means he's sitting on his ass at a site of new homes, where absolutely no one to maybe a couple of people will stop by). He then said "it's YOUR night, you deal with it" so I said "does that mean you're not coming?" and he said "I don't know". So, I reminded him he's a parent ALL the time, not just on the days he has the kids. Oh, and then he turned around and said "You know what? You can pick Arlie up this Friday" (referring to the fact that every other week he picks up both Arlie and Harrison at choir practice after school, which he would have to do ANYWAY and he drives RIGHT BY the house on the way home). I said "what does Arlie have to do with this?" but he didn't answer because he knows he's an immature asshole. Then, he took Harrison with him and Harrison texted me and then called me and said he wasn't sure he wanted to stay there, because the thought "daddy might hurt me"! OMG! I said I would come and get him right away, but he kept being undecisive about leaving. I know the only reason he didn't leave is because he feared the wrath of his dad and the guilt if he left. Doug is really out of control and need to get his attitude in check. His immature behavior and petty attitude is just unbelievable for a "man" of his age. This is the shit I have to deal with..........ugh.........

Arlie!
We had a busy and fun weekend! It started out on Friday evening with a packet pick up party at our house, with homemade Bailey's and treats. Saturday we volunteered to pass out packets and t-shirts at the last-change registration. THAT was a busy four hours! Nonstop people and moving really fast to get everyone their run numbers, pins, bells and t-shirts. We went home for a couple of hours and then headed down to Seattle to check into the Westin hotel. The kids loved staying downtown in a hotel. We went to eat at Westlake Center (kids chose sushi) and then got sidetracked by an amazing sale at Jessica McClintock where we bought three beautiful dresses (two for Hayley, one for Arlie) at incredible prices. Jeff and I had his company party that night at Seattle Art Museum, so we headed back to the hotel to get ready. The party was pretty boring so we only stayed a couple of hours and went back to get some sleep. We needed it - our wake up alarm came at 5:40 a.m. and we had to be at the JBR start at 7 a.m. We were late (of course) but in time to get Starbucks, meet some people, take a team photo and then head to the start line so Hannah could cut the ribbon for the Children's Run With The Elves 1K. After that, Hannah was interviewed onstage by a local radio station and introduced her siblings. Then, it was time for us to walk! We had about 32 people on our team, some running and some walking. We finished the course in just over an hour, then went to a kids' cocoa party sponsored by the Arthritis Foundation. The kids created calendar pages for an advocacy calendar and got a cute bear in return. We wrapped the day up by checking out of our room by noon and heading downtown to pass out sleeping bags, blankets, coats, shoes, and toiletries to the homeless. It was a LONG, exhausting but REALLY fun weekend!
